A delegation from Samborondon, Ecuador, visits Zhanjiang.
Location
Samborondon is a city in Guayas Province, Ecuador.
Covering an area of 2.1 square kilometers, it is the largest province with the largest population in Ecuador. It is bordered by the Pacific to the west and by the Gulf of Guayaquil in the south.
Samborondon has an area of 252 square kilometers in tetragonal shape. It is one of the main administrative areas in Guayas and a key strategic area, even in Ecuador, with a population of 95,000 and jurisdiction over 108 towns.
Samborondon enjoys a distinctive geographical position, with two rivers running in from the south, which provide rich natural resources for its fisheries development.
Industries and agriculture
Fertile lowland soil has made Samborondon into one of the most important agricultural districts in Ecuador.
Agriculture and animal husbandry are the city’s major industries.
It teems with rice, bananas, cocoa, coffee and tropical fruit. Samborondon, as the biggest producer in Guayas, supplies a significant portion of the country’s rice harvest. Its animal husbandry is mainly dominated by beef cattle.
Fisheries and forestry are developed as well there, with an abundance of catfish and shrimps.
Samborondon also has other industries, such as chemical engineering, machinery, shipbuilding, food and rubber, with ceramics as one of its oldest industries.
The delicate handmade ceramic products, including pipes, pots, flowerpots, kitchen utensils and decoration, are popular selling items at home and abroad.
City scape
To further develop the city’s construction of cities and towns, the government approved La Puntilla, an area within a 10.4-kilometer radius around Unity Bridge, as the central city in 1971.
Nowadays, La Puntilla has developed into one of Ecuador’s most developed and most valuable cities. Samborondon’s largest modern architectural complex in different styles, first-rate universities and educational institutions, large-scale shopping centers, restaurants and coffee shops can be found in this city.
Additionally, it enjoys convenient transportation, and the natural landscapes in Tarifa and Recintos are fascinating.
Due to the tropical rainy climate, Samborondon has only two seasons (dry and rainy), with an annual average temperature of 25.8 C.
The tourist industry is gradually developing into the city’s important industry, thanks to its rich tourism resources, such as the famous scenic spots around La Puntilla.
