Situated in Zhanjiang Economic & Technological Development Zone, Donghai Island Resort is expected to see further improvements, as an eco-friendly park residing in the resort has begun construction on Nov 9.

Designed to cover 1,000 mu (66.7 hectares), the park will be built in two phases. The first phase is budgeted to cost 35 million yuan ($5.15 million), and will see the construction of several facilities, including a square, bridges, pavilions, plank roads, green belts and car lots.

According to the manager of the project, the park will embrace various cultural elements of Donghai Island in the form of special sculptures and landscaping to forge the park into an attraction not only ideal for leisure, sightseeing and vocation, but also a place to promote local cultures.

“Every step of the construction is important, all related departments should work together and make sure the project will be finished excellently, effectively and timely,” stated a spoke person.

Being home to various large-scale industrial projects, Donghai Island plays a pivotal role in the industrial development of Zhanjiang. While giving priority to industrial development, the island has also maintained great awareness for affiliated public service facilities.

Public service facilities including the Donghai Island Central Commercial Zone, Donghai Hospital, Donghai Middle School and the Central Communication Center for Science, Technology and Culture are under construction.

As one of the key public welfare projects in the development zone, the park is scheduled to open to the public during October 2017.
