The China Marine Economy Expo (CMEE) 2016, to be held in Guangdong's Zhanjiang on Nov 24-27, will demonstrate a set of smart ocean administrations utilizing big data technology with the help of Guangdong Yueshu Big Data.

A subsidiary of state-owned Guangdong Guangye Asset Management, Guangdong Guangyue Big Data was built in 2015 to promote Internet Plus–based government data publishing against the backdrop of the national 13th Five-year Plan (2016-20).

By systematic and technical means, the only national-level marine economic and trade exhibition showcasing the latest in marine achievements, the 2016 CMEE will be a pioneer in integrating numerous data resources with innovative technology.

Service platforms for sharing and analyzing data about ocean transportation, cross-border ecommerce, ocean tourism and other marine-related fields will be established and introduced in video demonstrations during the expo.

A demo about ocean data-centered public service platforms will be highlighted this year. Visitors can learn about how heat maps and data of line capacities are analyzed and used to predict future cargo volumes.

As a part of Zhanjiang's plan to build a smart city, the application of ocean data will facilitate in upgrading the traditional marine economy and in the development of a marine electronics-cored intelligent ocean industry.
