The China International Aquatic Products Exposition to be held in the coastal city of Zhanjiang in Guangdong province from June 18 to 20 is set to make a splash with more participants, exhibitions, and forums than ever before.

Sponsored by China Aquatic Production Chamber of Commerce and Zhanjiang's association of aquatic products' import and export companies, the expo aims to be a one-stop trade exchange platform for the fishery industry.

More than 500 exhibition booths have been equipped up to international standards to display frozen products, aquatic animals as well as the latest machinery.

An increasing number of buyers from Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia and Ecuador and famous domestic enterprises will attend the expo.

One of the highlights this year will be a "thousand-people feast" which will serve up a smorgasbord of fresh seafood such as prawns, tilapia, and shellfish. Attendees will delight at the different cuisines, fried, scalded, and baked by famous local restaurants.

The banquet will allow attendees from home and abroad to feel the charm of the "capital of seafood cuisine", said Liang Siqiao, vice-president of Zhanjiang's chamber of commerce for food services.

The activity will also include a high-end summit forum focused on the upgrading of the fishery industry. Heavyweight guests such as Wu Jian, president of China's research institute for catering industry, will share authoritative perceptions and development trends at the event.

During the expo, competitions and cooking demonstrations will also be held.
