Leizhou benefits from an advantageous location, as it is along the east of the South China Sea, west of the Beibu Gulf, and north of Zhanjiang city, connecting Guangdong, Hainan provinces and Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region.
With a total population of 1.6 million people, Leizhou covers an area of 3,662 square kilometers; with multiple highways and railways running through the territory, such as the G207 and Yuehai (Guangdong-Hainan) Railway. The urban area is only 30 kilometers away from Zhanjiang Airport.
Leizhou has 16 ports, with domestic routes reaching ports of Haikou, Guangzhou, Tianjin, Shanghai, Hong Kong and Macao, and foreign routes reaching more than 10 countries and regions.
With a cultivated land area of 1.52 million mu (101,333 hectares), Leizhou is the national production base for commodity grain, sugar, pearls, fruits and eucalyptus forests, as well as the Guangdong provincial production base for vegetables, aquatic products and livestock.
The county-level city links six separate industries including the sugar industry, fruit processing, aquatic processing, wood processing and machinery manufacturing and electronics.
Local government has implemented a series of preferential policies to promote investment and capital introduction as well as encouraging policies to assist the development of private businesses, such as setting up an administrative service center, implementing one-stop services, establishing agency systems for major projects, creating a good investment environment and improving work efficiency.
The Leizhou Industrial Park has laid out a plan to set up strong industrial zones, including the Fenyong Industrial Zone, Shentang Industrial Zone and Wushi Coastal Industrial Zone.
Wushi Linhai Industrial Zone
The Wushi Coastal Industrial Zone (乌石临海工业区) has a planned area of 6,000 mu (400 hectares). It is situated in Wushi Port, the State-level centeral fishing port, with complete wharf construction facilities, which allow the 10,000-ton ships to easily pass through.
The industrial zone is planned to be used for the development of thermal power, chemical industry, building materials (nickel aluminum) industry, and the supporting development of container logistics, to promote the economic development of the Wushi Port.
