As the summer-autumn aviation season began on March 25, the Zhanjiang Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau rolled out a series of measures to ensure that the airport will be able to handle passengers and goods smoothly.

Summer and autumn are normally deemed as peak seasons of civil aviation due to the surging travel demands, resumption of certain frights and tighter timetable. This year, up to 472 flights will leave Zhanjiang Airport for 31 cities across the world weekly.

Of them, some flights will fly to Southeast Asian countries in tropical areas that suffer from high rates of infectious diseases. Recently, rabies has swept Thailand, while norovirus has broken out in Cambodia. This increases the possibility of infection to passengers travelling through the affected area.

For the safety of the air travelers, the Zhanjiang Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau has organized experts to conduct risk analysis on relevant international air routes. Meanwhile, it has tightened its inspection of inbound flights and urged them to declare passenger health condition before arrival.

In cooperation with Zhanjiang Customs, the bureau adopts a "one inspection for all" mode to streamline clearance procedures and increase efficiency. It will also remind passengers through media platforms such as newspapers, magazines, television and broadcast to check their entry-exit belongings in advance.

Moreover, the authority has given more emphasis to barrier-free customs inspections, which allows exporters and importers to apply for inspections with letters of guarantee or copies of certificate of origin before the arrival of the goods. The rate of paperless customs inspection applications will rise from 30 percent to 98, according to forecasts.
