Chen Yiwen, a 19-year-old Zhanjiang native, snatched the silver medal in women's 1m springboard with a score of 306.50 at the 18th Asian Games in Jakarta, Indonesia on Aug 31.

Her 27-year-old compatriot Wang Han, a silver medalist four years ago in the Incheon games, dominated the competition with a score of 323.55 points. Kim Su-Ji from South Korea came in third place with 265.35 points.

Born in Zhanjiang in 1999, Chen was drafted into the Guangdong provincial diving team in October 2010, and entered the national diving team – China's so-called Dream Team – in November 2016 as a rising star.

Earlier this year, Chen claimed the championship in women's 3m synchronized springboard at the 2018 FINA Diving World Series in Beijing, capital of China, along with her teammate Wang.
