Zhanjiang prepares for 2018 China Marine Economy Expo

The 2018 China Marine Economy Expo is scheduled to be held in Zhanjiang, Guangdong province from Nov 22 to 25, with a raft of exhibitions, forums, promotional conferences, and trade fairs in store.

The event, which is China's only state-level marine expo, will be jointly hosted by Ministry of Natural Resources and the Guangdong Provincial People's Government. It is meant to promote global exchanges and development of the marine sector.

Having grown in scale, the expo will this year be moved to the new Zhanjiang International Convention Center. The exhibition hall will be divided into state and industry pavilions, an offshore exhibition area, a coastal tourism area and a commodity area.

The national pavilion will showcase the country's achievements in maritime technology, environmental protection, scientific investigation, economic cooperation, and innovation and development.

Among the planned top attractions is the offshore exhibition area, where at least 137 enterprises will display military products and equipment. The area will also play host to naval vessels, public service ships, yachts and sailing boats.

Over 300 enterprises from neighboring areas, Zhanjiang's international sister cities, and countries along the Belt & Road, are expected to display their products and participate in activities.

The Ministry of Natural Resources will invite renowned universities, stated-owned enterprises and chambers of commerce to conduct forums on military-civilian integration, port logistics, coastal tourism, and modern fishery.

More than 100 economic and trade activities are also scheduled.

So far more than 20 large state-owned enterprises, 300 domestics SMEs and 163 overseas enterprises have signed up for the event, including China Merchants Group, China General Nuclear Power Corporation, China State Shipbuilding Corporation, and China National Offshore Oil Corporation.
