Zhanjiang tallies 4.6m golden week revelers

A total of 4.6 million tourists visited Zhanjiang, Guangdong province, during the National Day holiday from Oct 1 to 7, generating tourism revenue of 2.1 billion yuan ($305.8 million), up 25.06 and 20.09 percent year-on-year, respectively.

The number of self-driving trips increased by 10.42 percent to 455,600, and the occupancy rate of starred hotels hit 91.5 percent, according to statistics from the Zhanjiang Tourism Bureau.

The busy Zhanjiang Ocean Week rolled out more than 40 themed activities such as a photography exhibition, a kite contest and a beer carnival to entertain visitors throughout the city.

Jinsha Bay Coastal & Leisure Tourism Zone, the event’s major venue, was the most popular tourist attraction, receiving 199,200 revelers during the weeklong holiday, more than half of whom were out-of-towners.

Other specialized attractions included Cuijiniqiao Park, Haibin Park, Yinfan Park, the Sino-Australia Friendship Park, Yugang Park and Lvtang River Wetland Park.
