Two teams sent by Suixi Longwan Dragon & Lion Dance Troupe stood out from 12 peers from the United States, Britain and Malaysia, winning gold and silver medals at the 1st International Lion King Contest recently held in New York.

The contest was organized by Asian Americans Cultural Exchange Federation with the purpose of promoting lion dance culture and enhancing exchanges between overseas Chinese and Asian Americans.

The Suixi Longwan troupe was the only invitee from the Chinese mainland. It once performed as the Chinese representative at the opening ceremony of the 22nd New York Hong Kong International Dragon Boat Festival in August 2012, garnering a gold award for Sino-American cultural exchange.
