A conference was held in Beijing on Oct 12 to review the necessity, positioning, functions, and trend of the Guangzhou-Zhanjiang Passenger-Dedicated Line.

The 421-kilometer rail line will set out from Guangzhou, passing Foshan, Zhaoqing, Yunfu, Yangjiang, and Maoming at a speed of 350 kilometers per hour and terminating in Zhanjiang. The entire journey will take just two hours.

Construction is expected to begin in January 2019 and be completed by 2022. Once operational, the high-speed railway (HSR) will not only bring western Guangdong and the Pearl River Delta closer, but also contribute to the coordinated development of the area.
