5,000 runners compete in 2018 Zhanjiang Mini-Marathon

The 2018 Zhanjiang Mini-Marathon was held on Nov 18, with 5,000 runners mostly from 13 domestic provinces and cities participating. 

The start-finish line for the event was located at the Zhanjiang Sports Center. Contestants had to run about 10 kilometers through Renmin (People) Avenue, North Sports Road, Kwangchowan Avenue, the east section of South Sports Road, Haibin Avenue, and Leshan Avenue.

Ke Xiaohua from Maoming city won first place in the men's race with a time of 34 minutes and 46 seconds. Sun Yanping from Hunan province won the women's race with a time of 42 minutes and 26 seconds.

The mini-marathon, the highest-profile long-distance running event in Zhanjiang, is aimed at promoting the national strategy of fitness for all and encouraging a healthy modern lifestyle among residents, according to Lin Xiaowei, deputy secretary-general of the Zhanjiang government.

The event was overseen by the Zhanjiang Sports Bureau and supported by the Zhanjiang Municipal People's Government.
