Zhanjiang plans to start 73 and complete 25 major projects this year

A project promotion conference on key project commencement and completion in Zhanjiang, Guangdong province was held on July 1.

Hosted by Cao Xing, Zhanjiang's executive vice mayor, the conference highlighted the importance of fully understanding key projects, solving existing problems in time, responsibility of sub-contractors and relevant officials, and strengthening supervision after reports on project progress and confronting problems.

It was known that Zhanjiang planned to start the construction of 73 key projects this year. By the end of June, 16 were put into construction such as the infrastructure project of the Leizhou Modern Agricultural Industrial Park and the West Guangdong Modern Medical Center. Nineteen new projects will start construction in the third quarter and the fourth quarter will witness 38 newly constructed projects. A total of 25 key projects are expected to be completed this year, among which 14 are arranged for people's livelihood.

Zhanjiang has paid high attention to key project construction and the overall progress is smooth. From January to May, the city invested 39.36 billion yuan ($5.72 billion) of fixed assets with an increase of 16 percent. The double-digit growth has been maintained for nine consecutive months. A total of 17.6 billion yuan has been invested for continued and new construction of key projects and 13.62 billion yuan has been put into provincial key projects.

Cao Xing conducted analysis and research on each project and made arrangements for them at the conference after debriefing relevant departments. He claimed that counties and functional departments should attach importance to project promotion, responsibility clarification, and time node implementation. They should also strengthen coordination and communication, solve problems in time, intensify supervision, and improve the feedback system to guarantee project commencement and completion on schedule.
