The Zhanjiang Aeronautical Sports Association was set up in Zhanjiang on Sept 21, expecting to become a communication platform for local youth and model airplane enthusiasts.

As they are multidisciplinary, aeronautical sports are beneficial for youth practitioners to train their physical and mental ability, as well as their comprehensive response ability. It had been listed among one of the mass sports programs of the National Games of the People's Republic of China in 2017.

Zhanjiang, which started developing its aeronautical sports involvement in the 1950s, has been one of the earliest cities in China to carry out this sport and is home to numerous model airplane enthusiasts.

Chen Zhiqian, chairman of the association, said that the association will popularize information about model airplanes, as well as offer high-quality services for carrying out education and skill training.
