A volunteer services activity kicked off on Sept 22 in Zhanjiang, aiming to promote volunteer services and bolster public awareness in them.

A total of 48 volunteer service points were set up during the event, spreading information in areas such as medicine, law, environmental protection, finance, as well as industrial and commercial taxation.

In addition, services including haircutting, repairing electrical appliances, massages, measuring blood pressure, health counseling, and charity sales were well-received by locals.

Zhanjiang, in recent years, has seen a boom in volunteer services development. The city has more than 456,000 registered volunteers and over 4,300 volunteer services organizations.

A person in charge of the volunteer service activity said that volunteers in Zhanjiang are expected to offer more services that are appealing to the needs of the public.
