The Donghai Island Grand Bridge, the largest single bridge with the longest span on the Yulin-Zhanjiang Expressway, was fully completed on Nov 2.
The Yulin-Zhanjiang Expressway from Yulin, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region to Zhanjiang, Guangdong province is a major transportation channel connecting cities within the Beibu Gulf area.
Located at the end of the Yulin-Zhanjiang Expressway, the 4.38-kilometer Donghai Island Grand Bridge is a cross-sea bridge from Huguang town, Mazhang district to Donghai Island. It has a total of 302 bridge piers, and is designed as a two-way four-lane highway with a design speed of 100 km per hour.
With the construction of billion yuan scale projects such as Zhanjiang Baosteel, the Sino-Kuwait Integrated Refining project, and BASF in recent years, Donghai Island has now become a major part of Zhanjiang's efforts to develop large-scale industries. After completion and opening, the Donghai Island Grand Bridge will be of great significance to relieve traffic pressure on the island.
