CP Group to build swine industry base in Suixi, Zhanjiang

The signing ceremony and the foundation laying ceremony of the pig breeding industry chain project between Suixi county of Zhanjiang and Charoen Pokphand Group (CP Group) were held in Chengyue town on Nov 14.

Founded in Bangkok, Thailand in 1921, CP Group is one of the largest multinational companies in the world operated by ethnic Chinese. CP Group will invest a total of 3.8 billion yuan ($541.69 million) to establish a production and processing base, with an annual production of 1 million pigs, combining breeding and recycling in Suixi county.

The project will introduce the world's most advanced varieties, equipment, technology, and management. It includes a feed plant with an annual output of 360,000 tons, a breeding base with a capacity of 1 million pigs, and a slaughter food factory able to produce an annual output of 100,000 tons of pork and 20,000 tons of deli food. The project also covers 200,000 mu (13,333.33 hectares) for a crocodile breeding base and planting base.

The total output value of the project is about 10 billion yuan, creating a whole food chain of swine breeding, animal husbandry, food processing, logistics and distribution, as well as terminal consumption.

The main leaders of Suixi county said at the signing ceremony that the project will promote the development of modern agriculture in the county and will further optimize the layout of the modern agricultural industry in Suixi, expanding employment opportunities and promoting economic development.
