The city of Zhanjiang recently handled its first tax rebate procedures for an agent on behalf of foreign trade enterprises in Lianjiang, marking a new milestone for the city's comprehensive foreign trade services development.

Comprehensive foreign trade services are a primary component of new foreign trade business formats to be fostered by China according to the Thirteenth Five-Year Plan (2016-2020) for Foreign Trade Development, which was issued by the Ministry of Commerce in 2017. The services are provided based on the online information service platform, with integrated professional services in terms of customs declaration and inspection, logistics, tax rebate, settlement, financing, and credit insurance for small- and medium-sized enterprises.

Since China began to promote these services, Zhanjiang's taxation department took the initiative to contact local foreign trade SMEs, learning about their needs, introducing tax rebate policies for them, and offering them various services in foreign trade.

Through one-stop service provided by the comprehensive foreign trade service platform, a pre-risk monitoring mechanism, as well as a foreign exchange collection and remittance risk reminder mechanism, Zhanjiang is paving a smooth road for local companies to tap into the international market.
