10 Zhanjiang projects in 2019 focus on people's livelihoods

Zhanjiang government put forward 10 major projects focusing on people's livelihoods based on solving practical issues that meet the immediate interests of the public in the government work report released at the beginning of this year.

As of the end of November, Zhanjiang has added 10,680 positions for compulsory education students and created 15,580 positions for preschool education students.

Zhanjiang government attaches great importance to the construction of public cultural infrastructure. It has conducted an interior design upgrade of Zhanjiang Cultural Hall, which covers a total area of about 2,400 square meters. A concert hall, a drama exhibition hall, as well as other supporting facilities will be built.

The government has also raised the monthly minimum allowances for urban and rural areas in 2019 to 702 yuan ($100.11) and 484 yuan respectively, as well as increased the monthly minimum subsidies for extremely impoverished people in urban and rural areas to 1,124 yuan and 775 yuan respectively. In addition, the basic pension for urban and rural elderly residents has been adjusted to 170 yuan.

Zhanjiang has also taken measures to improve its living environment, such as building and upgrading 46 toilets in urban areas, renovating landfills in towns, completing 575 kilometers of rural highways, as well as building water purification plants.

In addition, three emergency medical command centers in Lianjiang, Wuchuan, and Xuwen county have been put into use. As of November, a total of 432.01 million yuan has been invested in public health service projects.
