A symposium on Guangdong province's industrial layout research project was held in Zhanjiang from Dec 22 to 23, gathering experts and officials of Guangdong to make suggestions on the coordinated development of Western Guangdong.
In recent years, Guangdong province has attached great importance to constructing the regional development pattern of "one core, one belt, and one zone." "One core" refers to the Pearl River Delta region, which is the core area and main engine leading the development of the province. It includes Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Zhuhai, Foshan, Huizhou, Dongguan, Zhongshan, Jiangmen, and Zhaoqing.
"One belt" refers to the coastal economic belt, especially cities along the Pearl River Delta. "One zone" refers to the northern ecological development zone, which includes Shaoguan, Meizhou, Qingyuan, Heyuan, and Yunfu.
Attendees investigated Baosteel Zhanjiang, the China-Kuwait Integrated Refining project, and the BASF (Guangdong) Integrated Base project, as well as learned about the production and industrial layout of Zhanjiang's industrial projects. They also listened to reports on the industrial development of Zhanjiang, Maoming, and Yangjiang, as well as to introductions regarding the "one core, one belt and one zone" development concept and the current status of the manufacturing industry.
Zhou Ji, leader of the investigation group and director of the National Manufacturing Strategy Advisory Committee, suggested at the symposium that Zhanjiang, Maoming, and Yangjiang should optimize the industrial layout of characteristic fields and promote urban construction. The experts will put forward specific action recommendations by region and area from a variety of aspects, spanning cities, infrastructure, industries, and talents.
Cao Xing, deputy mayor of Zhanjiang, urged the investigation group to provide more accurate information on talent policies and industrial policy support in transportation infrastructure, industrial layout, and construction of the Western Land-Sea Trade Corridor.
