The Xuwen Port Comprehensive Transportation Hub project, the world's largest passenger ro-ro (roll on/roll off) terminal at Xuwen Port in Zhanjiang, Guangdong province, is ready to be opened to service.

It will complete the project handover acceptance and equipment joint adjustment processes, as well as handle the relevant procedures for the opening trial operation license before the end of March 2020. By then, the seamless connection of highways, waterways, railways, and urban buses is expected to be realized.

The project has been designed to have an annual throughput of 3.2 million vehicles and 17.28 million passengers. After completion, it will become a first-class and the most functional passenger ro-ro terminal port in the world.

In 2019, Zhanjiang made a major breakthrough in the advancement of sea, land, air, and rail transport, completing 18.98 billion yuan ($2.75 billion) in transportation construction investment, an increase of 13.9 percent year-on-year. In addition to Xuwen Port, other projects that the city undertook are also of great importance and influence.

The 300,000-ton waterway reconstruction and expansion project of Zhanjiang Port, which is expected to be completed in 2022, will facilitate Zhanjiang Port becoming the only world-class deep-water port and terminal for 400,000-ton ships in South China. Zhanjiang will also build five high-speed railway routes in the future that will connect to the national high-speed rail network. The new Zhanjiang Port is expected to be put into use in the first quarter of 2022, benefiting more than 18 million people in western Guangdong.
