More than 1,200 volunteers help battle coronavirus in Leizhou

Since the outbreak of the novel coronavirus, more than 1,200 volunteers have been providing services for citizens in the streets and stations of Leizhou city in Zhanjiang, South China's Guangdong province.

The volunteers have carried out a series of public welfare activities, such as giving free masks to the public, distributing epidemic prevention leaflets and TCM prescriptions for the prevention of pneumonia, and visiting staff at the front line of epidemic prevention.

Leizhou has also mobilized businesses, merchants and social voluntary organizations to donate protective materials to those hospitals that have been designated for the prevention and control of the epidemic, and raised a total of 40,000 yuan ($5,705.24) to purchase medical supplies which are in short supply.

In addition, more than 1,000 volunteers have used platforms such as WeChat and Weibo to publicize scientific epidemic prevention and control work online, benefiting more than 15,000 netizens.
