Zhanjiang held its second press conference on the prevention and control of pneumonia caused by the novel coronavirus on Feb 4, outlining the latest situation in the city.
At present, Zhanjiang has 183 wards with 372 beds in 10 designated hospitals, and 140 beds in five reserve hospitals, with 43 provincial, city-level and county-level experts, and 2,243 medical staff on duty.
A total of 308 patients have been admitted, 190 were discharged (including one confirmed case) and 104 were treated in the hospitals. Currently, 102 wards and 212 beds are occupied, and 81 wards and 160 beds are available.
The city plans to requisition a private second-level hospital to be converted into an infectious disease hospital, freeing up 131 wards and 256 beds to centrally treat suspected and confirmed patients of the novel coronavirus. This will be managed by the Affiliated Hospital of Guangdong Medical University.
A total of 14 designated hotels were set up in 10 counties (cities and districts) of Zhanjiang for health management monitoring, providing 1,531 beds for people in need.
Zhanjiang also strengthened joint prevention and control with Hainan province, and sent staff to carry out health monitoring work at the port.
