3,000 Zhanjiang medics join campaign against coronavirus

Nearly 3,000 medical staff of Nongken (Zhanjiang) Medical Health Co, a medical consortium comprised of 25 medical institutions at all levels in Zhanjiang, have rushed to the front line of the epidemic prevention and control, protecting the safety and health of more than 160,000 people.

As of Feb 6, the prevention center of the company has dealt with seven emergency cases of novel coronavirus, assisted in the transfer of six suspected cases, adopted medical isolation measures for 24 people, and sampled close contacts for 71 people, before sending them for examination. It has also conducted sanitation and disinfection of employees' houses, markets, offices, and other public places totaling more than 5,000 square meters, as well as issued more than 30,000 publicity leaflets.

The 25 medical institutions have set up working groups to aid epidemic control efforts and have strengthened measures for the prevention and control of fever outpatients in hospitals. About 600 staff members have been dispatched to carry out passenger health monitoring work at major traffic crossings, stations, hotels, markets, and other places in the city. As of Feb 6, a total of 40,000 passengers have been monitored.
