Zhanjiang has completed construction of emergency communication support and 5G base stations around the city's epidemic prevention and control headquarters, as well as designated hospitals for patients infected with the novel coronavirus.

The Zhanjiang branch of China Unicom, one of the main telecom operation enterprises in China, started construction work on Jan 31 and immediately organized network design reviews to address the network needs to bolster the city's epidemic prevention and control efforts.

The 5G base station of Zhanjiang's epidemic prevention and control headquarters was officially opened on Feb 4, and the 5G base stations of the two designated hospitals were opened on Feb 7.

From investigation, design, and material deployment to construction, Zhanjiang Unicom completed the opening of the 5G base stations of the epidemic prevention and control headquarters in just two days, meeting the network requirements of remote command and rapid data transmission.

The 5G base stations of the two designated hospitals were opened in just four days, providing higher-speed and high-quality network channels for medical treatment, remote consultation of experts, as well as remote monitoring.
