In order to further improve Zhanjiang's ability level to prevent and deal with public health emergencies, as well as to respond to possible emergencies after the full resumption of work and production, the city held a joint drill in Xiashan district on March 15 for emergency treatment of cluster inflections of novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

The event was organized by the Zhanjiang epidemic prevention and control command office, and was jointly held by the Zhanjiang public security bureau, Zhanjiang health bureau, Zhanjiang housing and construction bureau, Zhanjiang emergency management bureau, Zhanjiang administrative service center, as well as Zhanjiang disease control center.

The drill simulated a cluster case of novel coronavirus pneumonia at a construction site. Each prevention and control unit quickly carried out emergency handling, such as suspicious case detection, isolation observation and reporting, on-site inquiry and emergency dispatch, on-site control, suspicious case investigation, as well as case transfer and disinfection. 

It aimed to further strengthen the emergency response to cluster inflections in residential areas, office buildings, construction sites, and other key places, testing the emergency response mechanism for public health emergencies in the city to ensure orderly treatment of patients and emergency treatment of epidemics, as well as the resumption of work and production. 

The epidemic prevention and control group has demanded that various prevention and control plans and measures, personnel training and exercises, as well as communication, collaboration, and information sharing should be strengthened.

Strict management and control measures should be taken in residential areas, office buildings, construction sites, and factory sites, which are prone to imported cases or clustered cases of COVID-19.

In addition, the city has emphasized strengthening emergency preparedness, further improving the construction of emergency medical treatment facilities and infectious disease prevention and control facilities, as well as improving emergency material reserve capacity.
