Lianjiang Hi-tech Zone in Zhanjiang was approved and identified as one of the six new provincial-level hi-tech zones in Guangdong province, according to the video conference on Guangdong high-tech zone construction held in Guangzhou on March 18.

Lianjiang Hi-tech Zone has a planned area of 830 hectares, covering areas from Tangcun village, Zhushan village, Shuidonglie village, and Wenli village in the east to the Jiuzhou River in the west, as well as Heling village, Yanshan village, Xiliantang village, and Wuniba village in the south to Yangdipo village, Huangsiling village, and Tangcun village in the north.

The approval requires Lianjiang High-tech Zone to take the direction of developing high technology and realizing industrialization. It must adhere to deepening reform, innovation leadership, openness and coordination, as well as characteristic development. It must improve the management system and mechanism to fully promote industrial transformation and upgrading, as well as improve scientific and technological innovation capabilities, striving to create a first-class industrial development environment.
