Guangdong Provincial Government held a video conference with BASF Group, a world-leading chemical company in Germany that is building one of its production base in Zhanjiang, Guangdong province, on March 26 to discuss and advance the construction of the BASF (Guangdong) Integrated Base project.

Ma Xingrui, governor of Guangdong, thanked BASF Group for its strong support of Guangdong at the conference. He said that as the epidemic situation improves, Guangdong will continuously improve the business environment, strongly support construction of the BASF project, as well as actively coordinate and resolve difficulties encountered in project construction.

Ma expressed his expectation that the two parties will maintain close communication, make every effort to promote the construction of the project, as well as jointly build the BASF project into a green and safe petrochemical industry excellence project that will also be a model for China's petrochemical industry's opening up to the world.

BASF Group has fully guaranteed raw materials supply with its global resources to key downstream enterprises that produce novel coronavirus (COVID-19) epidemic prevention and control materials. It has also purchased and donated medical protective supplies to Guangdong, as well as overcame various difficulties to promote the resumption of construction.

In addition, the Guangdong government has decided to donate a batch of anti-epidemic materials to Germany through BASF Group.

BASF CEO Martin Brudermüller expressed his admiration and appreciation for the timely and pragmatic measures taken by China and Guangdong to effectively curb the spread of the COVID-19 epidemic, as well as to speed up the restoration of work production. He noted that BASF will cooperate with Guangdong Province and Zhanjiang to actively promote the project's construction and achieve practical results as soon as possible.
