The Zhanjiang branch of China Mobile has been advancing the construction of 5G base stations in the city and accelerating the development of 5G networks to improve the city's new infrastructure, as well as promote the city's high-quality development.

The company is planning to finish the construction of 1,200 5G base stations in the first half of this year, and 2,000 by the end of this year, achieving 5G quality coverage in industrial parks, schools, hospitals, shopping malls, and traffic stations.

After resuming work following the COVID-19 outbreak, the company has organized 43 teams in the construction of 5G base stations around Zhanjiang, with an average daily completion of 10 base stations.

To date, Zhanjiang has basically realized 5G coverage in its main urban area. Areas like Zhanjiang Airport, Zhanjiang West Railway Station, and Zhanjiang Port have achieved full 5G coverage.

The Zhanjiang branch of China Mobile is also implementing its 5G plus plan, involving industries like 5G plus agriculture, 5G plus medical treatment, 5G plus transportation, and 5G plus convergence media. It has signed 5G strategic cooperation agreements with 14 units and 10 industrial park management committees to help their transformation and upgrading to digitalization, networking, and smart technologies.

The construction of the company's data center has been accelerated to provide digital services with low costs, high efficiency, and strong security. The total investment of the second-phase construction of the data center is about 1 billion yuan ($1.41 billion), and it will provide data storage, cloud computing, and big data services after completion.

To date, the number of China Mobile 5G users in Zhanjiang has exceeded 200,000.
