Nine cultural and technological courses were brought by the Zhanjiang Committee of the Chinese Communist Youth League to about 300 students of Shacheng Primary School in Shacheng village, Zhanjiang's Potou district on May 28.
The activities aimed to celebrate the upcoming International Children's Day, which falls on June 1, and add some fun to children's lives.
The cultural and technological courses included ones on robot programming and moonlets. There were also classes on paper cutting, lacquer painting, and tie dying, as well as mental health education.
"This is great that drones, which I have only ever seen on the television, flew in front of me," said a fifth grade student at the school, adding that he would study harder to go to university and become a scientist.
Another student in the sixth grade at the school spoke highly of the class on tie dying, saying, "I didn't expect that the traditional culture would be so interesting, and I hope that more and more interesting courses can come to my primary school and broaden our horizons."
"This is my first time to visit Potou district, and I feel that children here are very innocent and kind," said the teacher who oversaw the moonlets and robot programming courses.
Shacheng village is a provincial-level poverty-stricken village in Zhanjiang. "I hope that this event can encourage students here to learn more about the progress of the nation's science and technology, as well as get access to the latest technologies," added the teacher.
