In celebration of the annual Cultural and Natural Heritage Day, which falls on June 13 this year, Zhanjiang has launched the online exhibition of intangible cultural heritages.

Jointly hosted by the Zhanjiang Intangible Cultural Heritage Protection Center and the Zhanjiang Cultural Center, the online photography and video exhibition showcases the highlights of the city's intangible cultural heritage performances in recent years, including lion and dragon dances.

By June 2020, Zhanjiang has eight national intangible cultural heritages like Zhanjiang human dragon dance and the stone dog carvings of Leizhou Peninsula, 45 provincial-level ones, and 92 city-level ones. It also boasts five representative inheritors of national intangible cultural heritages, 66 for provincial-level intangible cultural heritages, and 130 for city-level intangible cultural heritages.

The city has also set up 10 provincial bases for its intangible cultural heritages, two productive and protective demonstration bases for Leizhou cattail weaving techniques and Suixi sugar making technologies, as well as one provincial demonstration area for the protection of Leizhou culture.
