The cargo volume in and out of Zhanjiang Bonded Logistics Center (B type) in May reached 84,200 metric tons, a year-on-year increase of 83.4 percent, and the value totaled 205 million yuan ($28.92 million), increasing by 57.7 percent compared to the same period of the previous year.

Xiashan Customs, which is under the jurisdiction of Zhanjiang Customs, has taken a series of measures to help foreign trade enterprises in the bonded logistics center to resume work and production since the outbreak of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

New supervision methods, such as inspection after release, were implemented to reduce cargo unloading and transshipment time, improve the speed of logistics turnover, as well as save logistics costs for enterprises.

The customs also took actions to simplify the registration procedures for enterprises that are willing to settle in the bonded logistics center. For filing materials and food hygiene certificates, enterprises can submit electronic documents online first and then hand in paper documents.

The clearance time for imports and exports through the customs was respectively reduced by 2.59 hours and 0.1 hours.

The customs also assisted Zhanjiang Port (Group) Co Ltd in the new business model integrating bonded services and new retail, launching a public platform for offline exhibition and online e-commerce sales.

To boost the new business pattern of B2B2C (business to business to consumers) for cross-border e-commerce in the bonded logistics center, the customs formulated project promotion plans, as well as guided enterprises in the preliminary filing and field construction.
