To aid Germany's fight against the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, Zhanjiang donated 500,000 disposable medical masks to the country through legal procedures, which were delivered to Germany by plane from Shanghai on July 3.

The medical masks were produced by Guangdong Tongde Pharmaceutical Co Ltd, and have obtained the domestic related product certification and been recognized by Germany. The product manual has also been translated into English.

The donation was made at the request of German chemical giant BASF, of which its largest overseas investment, the BASF (Guangdong) Verbund Site project, is settled in Zhanjiang.

BASF donated two batches of N95 masks, valued at 190,000 yuan ($26,889), to help Zhanjiang in preventing and controlling the COVID-19. The BASF (Guangdong) Verbund Site project has also played an important and exemplary role in promoting the resumption of work and production of key projects and enterprises in Zhanjiang.
