Lianjiang, a county-level city in Zhanjiang, has been boosting the development of rural e-commerce since it was included on the list of counties to be developed into provincial-level demonstration counties for rural e-commerce in November 2018.
The county has been cooperating with e-commerce platforms like Alibaba, JD, Suning, and Pinduoduo to develop local e-commerce brands. It also set up training bases to carry out training of rural e-commerce talents.
Activities have been carried out in the county to promote local agricultural products, including an online lychee promotion activity in May 2019.
Lianjiang has been improving its e-commerce supply chain system for agricultural products. It plans to build a county-level e-commerce service center, 18 town-level e-commerce service stations, and 140 village-level e-commerce service points.
A three-tier logistics system is also being constructed in the county, building up logistics service points in villages, logistics service stations in towns, and a logistics service center in the urban area of the county.
Lianjiang currently has set up two local e-commerce service platforms, as well as two rural e-commerce enterprises with annual sales of more than 10 million yuan ($1.43 million), eight ones with annual sales of over 5 million yuan, and 16 ones with annual sales of 3 million yuan.
A rural e-commerce training base has been established in the county and has carried out 12 training sessions, with more than 1,600 people taking part.
E-commerce targeted poverty alleviation efforts have lifted more than 1,500 people out of poverty.
In addition, the online retail sales of Lianjiang agricultural products saw a year-on-year increase of 23 percent in 2019, entering the top 10 among all the demonstration counties for rural e-commerce in Guangdong province.
