By the end of June, Zhanjiang had a total of 309,200 market entities, with a registered capital of 528.07 billion yuan ($75.48 billion), an increase of 10.16 percent and 27.71 percent respectively over the same period last year.

Among them, there were 68,300 enterprises of various types, with a registered fund of 510.37 billion yuan, up 9.51 percent and 28.06 percent respectively year-on-year. The number of privately or individually-owned businesses was 236,700, with a registered capital of 10.69 billion yuan, up 10.48 percent and 20.28 percent respectively year-on-year.

The Zhanjiang market supervision bureau has launched various measures, including relaxing restrictions on market access and simplifying procedures for license registration, to promote the city's socio-economic development while maintaining COVID-19 prevention and control measures.

In the first half of 2020, there were 25,781 newly registered market entities in Zhanjiang, with a total registered capital of 61.71 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 4 percent and 66.25 percent respectively.

The bureau has continued to improve the financing mechanism for micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises in Zhanjiang. It has also supported enterprises in broadening their financing channels by means of equity financing, which promotes the adjustment of the city's industrial structure.

By the end of June, there were 12,225 market entities in the city's primary industry, 24,821 and 272,169 in the secondary and tertiary industries respectively.

In addition, the bureau supported relevant enterprises resume production or transition into manufacturing COVID-19 prevention and control supplies, such as medical masks, protection suits, and forehead thermometers.

To date, there are 19 registered medical mask manufacturers in Zhanjiang, with a daily output of 2.37 million medical masks, as well as 32 ordinary masks manufacturers, with a daily output of 560,000 masks.

The city also has two enterprises producing latex examination gloves, four enterprises producing protection suits, and four enterprises producing forehead thermometers.

From January to June, 13,364 market entities of various types were cancelled in Zhanjiang, a year-on-year decrease of 10.7 percent.
