Ye Qixing, president of the Anpu Town Health Center in Lianjiang, a county-level city in Zhanjiang, was one of the 80 medical workers awarded this year's Chinese Physician Award. He is the only doctor in Zhanjiang - and one of just five in Guangdong province - to get the national honor.

The Chinese Physician Award, established in 2003 with the approval of the State Council and the National Health Commission, is the highest award for the physician profession. The selection process takes place every two years, and has been carried out 11 times.
The winners of the 12th Chinese Physician Award were announced in Beijing on Aug 19, which was also the third Chinese Doctors' Day.
Ye gave an outstanding performance in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. He stuck to the frontline of prevention and control efforts, led teams to villages to deliver health education, and helped issue publicity leaflets and brochures containing epidemic prevention information.
As a result, there were no confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the town.
"The honor of Chinese Physician Award belongs to all the medical workers in Anpu Town Health Center," said Ye, adding that he would continue to serve the people with all his might and try his best to make sure local people can see a doctor at the minimum cost, thus ensuring their good health.
