New educational institutions to boost Zhanjiang's development

The launching ceremony of the Guangdong provincial doctoral station of Zhanjiang Preschool Education College and the Zhanjiang branch of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Applied Mathematics Center was held on Sept 24.

A large number of leaders of colleges and universities, experts, as well as scholars attended the ceremony, including Jiang Song, academician of the Institute of Applied Physics and Computational Mathematics, Hong Jialin, associate dean of the Academy of Mathematics and Systems Science of the Chinese Academy of Science, Yao Zheng'an, a professor at Sun Yat-sen University, and Wu Jian, vice president of South China Normal University.

The establishment of the Guangdong provincial doctoral station of Zhanjiang Preschool Education College is expected to help the college raise the level of education, teaching, and scientific research, as well as its innovation ability to serve economic development.

The Zhanjiang branch of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Applied Mathematics Center is beneficial to promoting the rapid transformation and upgrading of Zhanjiang's traditional industries, as well as the development of strategic emerging industries, providing support to the city's major scientific and technological tasks.

Zhanjiang Preschool Education College can be traced back to 1925, and currently has 33 junior college-level majors, covering the five disciplines of arts, science, engineering, education, and management.

It now has four campuses, 452 full-time teachers, of which 91 have associate senior titles and above, and more than 13,000 students.
