It is expected to be built into a modern demonstrative "smart new city," integrating port, logistics, tourism, industry, and city functions to connect Guangdong and Hainan provinces, as well as to serve the countries and regions along the Belt and Road.

The industrial park will have a total investment of nearly 50 billion yuan ($7.41 billion), and will be built in three phases.

The first-phase of construction will cover about 222 hectares, including the construction of an exhibition and trading center, the Xuwen local products exhibition and sales base, the Hainan free trade e-commerce city, the ASEAN cross-border trade platform, the Xuwen local products processing base, the residential area, as well as the island supply, logistics, and storage base.

The international logistics industrial park project is expected to improve regional competitiveness and promote the development of the local economy, said the relevant person in charge of the project from China Communications Construction Company Limited.
