Due to the rapid development of the local economy brought by the accelerated convergence of logistics and personnel flow, Mazhang district in Zhanjiang is expected to achieve a regional GDP of 13.53 billion yuan ($1.9 billion) in the first three quarters of this year, an increase of 7 percent.

Mazhang district has been built into a transportation hub of Zhanjiang's as it is close to Zhanjiang Port and Zhanjiang Airport. The city's only high-speed railway station is also located here. In addition, Zhanjiang Avenue, the first urban expressway in the city, will also pass through Mazhang district, which will be of great significance to enhance the city's urban traffic capacity, as well as to stimulate the economic and social development of Zhanjiang after completion.

The transportation upgrades have helped develop Mazhang's industrial parks. Zhanjiang Smart Logistics Hub Project, which boasts an investment of 3.6 billion yuan, and Zhanjiang Integrated Logistics Port Project, which has an investment of 800 million yuan, will start construction. More than 350 companies have also settled in Zhanjiang Business Logistics Park.

"Mazhang is a transportation hub of western Guangdong with railways, ports, and airports all involved, which helps develop trade and logistics industries better," said Yin Xiaoxiang, marketing director of Zhanjiang Business Logistics Park.

In the first half of this year, Mazhang industrial parks received a total investment of 2.79 billion yuan. In the first three quarters of this year, the industrial added value of Mazhang district is expected to be 15.75 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 9.5 percent.
