BASF Group, a world-leading chemical company in Germany, started the recruitment process for members of its Zhanjiang Community Advisory Committee on May 11.

The committee is aimed at strengthening BASF's communication with relevant local communities, advancing the construction of the BASF (Guangdong) Integrated Base project, and supporting the sustainable development of communities in Zhanjiang.

"In this way, we hope to engage with local communities to create a sustainable future for Zhanjiang," said Lin Hanping, leader of BASF's Zhanjiang Integrated Base project.

The committee will hold regular activities to update the communities on the operation and development of the BASF (Guangdong) Integrated Base, as well as get to know people in the communities, building a relationship of mutual trust and mutual benefits.

"It has been nearly 10 years since the first BASF community advisory committee was established in China," said Jiang Yongyong, senior director of BASF's Chinese Government Affairs Division. "We are pleased to see that more and more enterprises are focusing on interaction and communication with their communities, combining economic success with environmental and social responsibilities to achieve sustainable development."

To date, BASF has established more than 10 community advisory committees around the globe, including ones in Shanghai, Taiwan, Chongqing, and Nanjing, Jiangsu province.

People who have reached the age of 18, live in Zhanjiang, and are willing to contribute freely to BASF's communication with communities are eligible to sign up for the Zhanjiang Community Advisory Committee.

Eligible people can get the application form at the sub-district offices of Donghai Island or fill in the application form online at BASF's official WeChat public account: BASF_in_action. The hotline +86-759-3600600 is available from 9 am to 5 pm from Mondays to Fridays.

The deadline for registration is May 31. About 20 members will be selected from all applications according to the principles of representing different communities, ages, genders, and occupations.

As China's first wholly foreign-owned large-scale petrochemical integration project and boasting a total investment of $10 billion, the BASF (Guangdong) Integrated Base project began construction in Zhanjiang in November 2019. The first unit of the project will be put into operation in 2022. The entire integrated base is expected to be completed in 2030.
