The eight projects, including the Zhanjiang section of the Guangzhou-Zhanjiang High-speed Railway, the Haidong branch of the Affiliated Hospital of Guangdong Medical University, and Xuwen County Library, are set to have a total investment of 33.5 billion yuan ($4.74 billion), of which 3.38 billion yuan has been allocated to be used in 2020.

Covering fields like transportation, energy, and people's livelihoods, the projects are expected to provide strong support for the city's efforts to build itself into a provincial sub-central city and accelerate the development of the modern coastal economic belt.

It is estimated that all the city's key projects will finish an investment of 22 billion yuan in the first half of 2020, accounting for 46.5 percent of the annual planned investment. Among them, the provincial-level key projects will complete an investment of 18.5 billion yuan, 48 percent of the annual planned investment.
