Zhanjiang Customs issued a total of 1,052 Certificate of Origins (C/Os) in June, up 10.27 percent from the same period of the previous year, according to data released by the customs.

The C/Os involved a total product value of 410 million yuan, a year-on-year increase of 4.6 percent, and can help the city's export products obtain a tariff reduction of 8.99 million yuan ($1.28 million) from import countries.

"Due to the impact of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, foreign markets are highly variable and containers are hard to book," said the manager surnamed Zhong of Guangdong Huaqiang Appliance Group Co Ltd.

"In order to help us get the C/O as soon as possible and finish the customs clearance within the agreed time, Zhanjiang Customs has worked overtime and provided us a lot of help," added Zhong.

Several measures have been taken by Zhanjiang Customs to stabilize the city's foreign trade, as well as to help enterprises speed up the resumption of their production.

Zhanjiang Customs has optimized the procedures for applying for and issuing a C/O, reducing the overall time to half a working day.

Green channels have been opened for medical supplies export enterprises. The customs has also been publicizing the latest customs policies and foreign technical trade measures through online and offline channels to accelerate the export rate of COVID-19 prevention materials.
