Zhanjiang's foreign trade rises by 5.2% in June

The total value of Zhanjiang's exports and imports in June saw a year-on-year increase of 5.2 percent to 3.58 billion yuan ($511.19 million), according to statistics released by Zhanjiang Customs at a press conference on July 29.

The city's export value in June was 1.45 billion yuan, a decrease of 25 percent year-on-year, while its import value reached 2.13 billion yuan, an increase of 45.3 percent.

In the first half of this year, Zhanjiang had a total volume of foreign trade worth 17.96 billion yuan, down 4.5 percent compared to the same period of the previous year. The amount of exports was 7.32 billion yuan, down 24.1 percent, while the amount of imports totaled 10.64 billion yuan, up 16.1 percent.

In terms of trade methods, the import and export of general trade in the first six months of the year saw a decrease of 0.8 percent to 14.29 billion yuan, making up 79.6 percent of Zhanjiang's total foreign trade, which is 3 percentage points higher than the same period last year.

The import and export total of bonded logistics from January to June reached 1.79 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 61.8 percent, while that of processing trade was 1.42 billion yuan, up 11.5 percent year-on-year.

In terms of enterprise categories, State-owned enterprises in Zhanjiang had a total import-export volume of 6.64 billion yuan in the first half year, a year-on-year increase of 18.6 percent. The imports and exports of foreign-invested enterprises in Zhanjiang saw a decrease of 7.6 percent to 3.41 billion yuan, while those of private enterprises were 7.45 billion yuan, decreasing by 19.2 percent year-on-year.
