The passenger volume of Zhanjiang Airport exceeded 200,000 in July, which was more than 85 percent of the airport's domestic passenger throughput in the same period last year, setting a monthly high since the outbreak of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic earlier this year.

Zhanjiang Airport has made great efforts to keep its major flights running while implementing strict COVID-19 epidemic prevention and control measures.

Since May, the airport has opened new routes to Beijing Daxing International Airport, Hefei in Anhui province, Changchun in Jilin province, Huizhou in Guangdong province, Wuxi in Jiangsu province, and Xishuangbanna in Yunnan province.

It also added more flights to Shanghai, Wuhan in Hubei province, Xiamen in Fujian province, Chongqing, Kunming in Yunnan, as well as Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and Jieyang in Guangdong.

In addition, the airport opened two express lines on July 2 to Lianjiang and Leizhou, two county-level cities in Zhanjiang, to meet people's travel needs.

To date, Zhanjiang Airport has opened 36 routes to 36 cities, providing about 550 inbound and outbound flights per week. The highest daily passenger throughput of the airport was about 8,300 since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.
