The working team for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) was set up by the Zhanjiang Municipal Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) in Guangzhou on Aug 22.

It is expected to help the city build a communication and cooperation platform between the government and enterprises, assist the city to carry out work in attracting investment, as well as promote the city's economic and social development.

The working team is an agency that is directly subordinate to the Zhanjiang Municipal Committee of CPPCC, and is built based on the Guangzhou office of the Zhanjiang municipal government and the Zhanjiang Chamber of Commerce of Guangdong.

It will organize CPPCC members around the Greater Bay Area to carry out activities for study, communication, fellowship, and investigation when the Zhanjiang municipal CPPCC is not in session. The working team will also assist in the city's investment attraction and fundraising for charity, as well as promote the economic interconnection between Zhanjiang and the Greater Bay Area.

According to Xu Shun, chairman of the Zhanjiang Municipal Committee of the CPPCC, the establishment of the working team can advance the multi-tiered and institutionalized development of consultative democracy, and is of great significance to help Zhanjiang integrate into the construction of the Greater Bay Area and the pilot demonstration zone for socialism with Chinese characteristics of Shenzhen.
