A batch of mooncakes produced in Zhanjiang was recently exported to Vietnam after passing the inspection and quarantine procedures of Xiahai Customs, which operates under the jurisdiction of Zhanjiang Customs. It is the first time that Zhanjiang mooncakes have been exported overseas.
The shipment of mooncakes, weighing 125 kilograms and valued at 14,980 yuan ($2,192.42), was exported by Zhanjiang Chikan Jinmanrun Food Co Ltd.

Xiahai Customs went to great lengths to ensure the smooth export of these mooncakes, assigning officials to go over the export standards for mooncakes in detail. Customs officers also provided one-on-one guidance during customs declaration, inspection and quarantine, and helped secure a sanitary certificate and certificate of origin (C/O).
"My company has just obtained the qualification to produce food for export, and is not familiar with the export procedures and related foreign requirements," said a senior staffer from Zhanjiang Chikan Jinmanrun Food Co Ltd.
"Thanks to the help from customs officials, the mooncakes entered the Vietnamese market ahead of Mid-Autumn Festival, which falls on Oct 1 this year, and enjoyed tariff preferences with the C/O," added the person.
