A delegation from the health commission of Haikou, the capital city of Hainan province, visited Zhanjiang in Guangdong province from Sept 4 to 6 to further deepen cooperation and exchanges between the two cities in the field of healthcare.

The two sides signed a cooperation framework agreement to build an integrated regional medical rescue center, set up a joint prevention and control mechanism for major infectious diseases and create a big data health platform for the Beibu Gulf. The two cities will also work together to cultivate medical talents and explore cooperation mechanisms for healthcare reform.

Zhanjiang and Haikou are separated by the Qiongzhou Strait, one of China's three largest straits. The signing of the agreement will further promote the integrated development of the two cities' medical systems.

The delegation also attended the launch ceremony of the 5G emergency system in Zhanjiang on Sept 6 and made field visits to the Guangdong Medical University and its affiliated hospital, the Zhanjiang Center for Disease Control, Zhanjiang Planning Museum and the Xuwen County Disease Control Center.
