The clinic at the construction site of the BASF (Guangdong) Integrated Base project was opened on Oct 12 under the joint efforts of BASF Group, the Zhanjiang municipal government, and the Affiliated Hospital of Guangdong Medical University.

The clinic aims to provide high-quality medical services to BASF workers and contractors at the project construction site, ensuring the smooth progress of the project.

"BASF always puts people's health and safety first," said Klaus Welsch, president of Engineering & Maintenance at BASF SE, at the opening ceremony of the clinic. "BASF has developed a global health management system, which sets clear standards and is implemented by a network of experts from around the world."

Welsch added that thanks to the full support of the Zhanjiang municipal government and the Affiliated Hospital of Guangdong Medical University, construction of the clinic progressed smoothly.

The BASF (Guangdong) Integrated Base and the Affiliated Hospital of Guangdong Medical University signed a cooperation agreement in jointly building the clinic in September 2019.

The BASF (Guangdong) Integrated Base project, invested in by the world-leading chemical company BASF Group, is China's first wholly foreign-owned large-scale petrochemical integration project and boasts a total investment of $10 billion.

Its construction began in Zhanjiang in November 2019. The first unit of the project will be put into operation in 2022. The entire integrated base is expected to be completed in 2030.
