Maoming's total value of imports and exports of goods reached 16.15 billion yuan ($2.25 billion) from January to August, an increase of 40.8 percent, according to customs' statistics. The growth rate ranked first in the province, while being 30.7 percentage points and 40.2 percentage points higher than the national and provincial growth rate respectively.
During the National Day holiday, which fell from Oct 1 to Oct 7, Maoming received 1.55 million tourists, generating 806 million yuan ($112 million) in tourism revenue.
In recent years, Xinyi, a county-level city in Maoming, has established Guangdong's all-region tourism demonstration zone and created a series of high-quality tourism routes to promote rural vitalization.
In the first eight months of this year, the total import and export value of Maoming was 16.15 billion yuan ($2.25 billion), up 40.8 percent year-on-year.
Maoming has been providing farmers with financial loans to help its rural revitalization efforts.
Maoming has exported 321 metric tons of longans this year, which was basically equivalent to the same period last year, with a value of 7.84 million yuan ($1.12 million), a year-on-year increase of 15.7 percent.
